SPORTS
Arena Football
Arena Football is officially here in
Manchester, and the Wolves organization is looking forward
to partnering up with a first-class arena (Verizon Wireless
Arena) and arena management group (SMG). We can’t wait
to show off our exciting game to the people of New Hampshire.
I believe strongly that the great sports fans throughout the
region that are so supportive of the Monarchs and the area’s
college sports teams will love what the Wolves have to offer
as well.
BASEBALL
Boston
Red Sox In 1995, the Red Sox Hall of Fame was instituted
to recognize the outstanding careers of former Red Sox players.
A 15-member selection committee comprised of Red Sox broadcasters

BASKETBALL
Boston Celtics
The 1975-76 Celtics were a team expected to excite, and they
certainly didn't disappoint, providing fans of the Green and
White with what is now called by many "The Greatest Game Ever
Played" -- a 3OT win over Phoenix in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
The Celtics celebrate that game with this special section.
HOCKEY
Boston
Bruins Since the team's first season of NHL action
in 1924, many players, coaches, and general managers have
pledged their loyalty to the black and gold. In doing so they
have made their mark on Boston Bruins' history. Over the years,
nine players have been honored by having their numbers taken
out of circulation, and five teams have earned the right to
skate with the Stanley Cup.

COLLEGE SPORTS
UNH
Founded in 1866 as the New Hampshire College of Agriculture
and Mechanical Arts, UNH was among the early state institutions
of higher education whose formation was made possible by federal
government land grants. The grants were provided to establish
colleges to serve the sons and daughters of farming and laboring
families.
Keene State
Keene State College focuses primarily on undergraduate
education and serves the citizens of New Hampshire and the
region as a scholarly community of higher learning, offering
associate's, bachelor's, and selected master's degrees, and
opportunities for continuing education in credit and non-credit
programs and courses. Founded in 1909 as Keene Normal School,
the institution became Keene Teachers College in 1939 and
was named Keene State College in 1963, when it became affiliated
with the University System of New Hampshire.
Plymouth
State One of the comments we often hear from
parents, alumni, students, and friends is how impressed they
are with the dynamic community of learning and teaching they
find at PSC. Here, they tell us, there is inspiration for
involvement in campus and community life, nurturing of personal
and academic growth, motivation for achievement, and an unconditional
commitment to student success from the entire campus. There
are many reasons they find these things at Plymouth State.

LOCAL CASINO'S
Mohegan Sun
On Mohegan Sun Boulevard, and at the north entrance to the casino,
you will find Mohegan Sun rocks. In the Mohegan language, "sun"
means "rock." Traditionally, our leaders are called either Sunjum
(Sachem), which signifies a male head chief, or Sunqsquaw, which
signifies a female chief. Sunjum and Sunqsquaw translate to
mean "rock man" and "rock woman." The word "Mohegan" means "Wolf
People." Our Tribe is the ancient Wolf Clan of the Lenni Lenape
Indians who traveled from the Southwest to the Northeast across
a Great Fresh Water and a Great Desert to reach Upstate New
York.
Foxwoods Casino
The symbol of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is a reflection
of the past. The tree, perched on a rocky knoll and framed against
a clear sky, represents Mashantucket, the "much wooded land"
where the people hunted and prospered. | |
